Trained electricians get to work in Penrith

The skills of those with electrician training may be needed in Penrith, as United Utilities continues with a £740,000 scheme it is undertaking.

Around 4.2 km of underground cable is being installed by the firm to improve the electricity supply for the town's 10,000 customers, as well as making the network more fault resistant.

The project is being carried out on behalf of Electricity North West and is not expected to cause any additional delays or disruption to traffic.

Nigel Armstrong, the project manager, explained that the majority of the work has now been completed and Penrith residents have been "very patient".

"The good news is that we are very nearly finished and we do not expect to need any more traffic lights in the centre of the town," he added.

In other news form United Utilities, changes are currently being made to Pennington Reservoir to improve the water supply to the area surrounding it.
