Renewable energy training news: Loan system is a 'bold move'
One industry expert has commented on the UK Green Building Council's announcement that loans could be offered to homeowners so that they can implement environmentally-friendly improvements.
In news that could be of interest to those with renewable energy training, Gordon Miller, founder of whatgreenhome.com, claimed that the proposal is "a bold one".
However, he does think that encouraging people to act on climate change through council tax rebates is a good idea.
Mr Miller said: "The truth is we are going to have to - and should already - change our behaviour and individually take responsibility for our own impact on the earth's depleting resources."
The proposals from the UK Green Building Council suggest that £10,000 loans could be repaid over 25 years using the savings people make on their energy bills.
As part of a £5 billion plan, households will be offered low-interest loans of up to £10,000 in order to make energy-efficient improvements to their property.
