Plumbing training 'may be needed as construction picks up'
There could be some good news for those with plumbing training who are looking for work, as the construction industry in the UK is expected to pick up in the future.
In the opinion of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics), the "worst of the collapse in output" is likely to be over.
Although the organisation appreciates that there is still a very challenging time ahead for the house building industry, it states that there was a slight lift in the number of orders received in April and May.
This is after output levels fell very sharply at the beginning of the year, following the banking sector collapse at the end of 2008.
Simon Rubinsohn, chief economist at Rics, said: "It's going to be a fairly long haul but we've probably seen the worst of the adjustment downwards."
The June Glenigan Index reveals that a slump in construction with the private sector has spread, leading to wider declines within the industry.
