People with solar power training 'may help school to be more eco-friendly'
Tradesmen with solar power training may have offered a helping hand to one school as it became more environmentally-friendly recently.
Stobhillgate First School in Morpeth has installed new solar panels costing £20,000 thanks to funding from the Co-operative's Green Energy for Schools scheme.
Money was also supplied by the government's Low Carbon Building Programme to install the 24 photovoltaic panels, the Morpeth Herald reports.
Headteacher Neil Richmond said: "We are committed to environmental education and energy conservation and are grateful for this opportunity to generate our own renewable electricity."
He also said that the solar panels will be a "fantastic" resource to teach pupils about green energy, as well as helping the school to reduce its carbon footprint.
Another school doing its bit for the environment is Christ the King Roman Catholic Infant School in Coundon.
The Coventry Telegraph reported that the educational establishment will be installing solar panels later on this year.
