People with gas training 'could be fitting beneficial new meters'
Two industry experts have discussed the benefits that could be enjoyed by British households when those with gas training install smart meters into homes.
In a letter to the Guardian, Gary Felgate from Energy Retail Association and Andy Atkins from Friends of the Earth claim that the new government initiative could "herald a revolution in the way customers manage energy".
The authors also note that the solution will create greater innovation within the energy market as suppliers compete to offer consumers the best energy display devices.
Mr Felgate and Mr Atkins continue: "This new technology will mean the end of estimated bills and meter readers visiting homes and will provide customers and energy suppliers with accurate and timely information."
Last month, British Gas announced that it hopes to create around 2,600 for those with gas training jobs as it works to install a new generation of meters across the UK.
