New Cambridgeshire homes 'may require those with electrician training'

There could be call for those with electrician training in a Cambridgeshire village, if plans for 382 new homes are given the green light.

Hauxton would see its population rise from its current level of 600 to around 1,200 if the new properties are built.

The local authority's planning committee is set to make its decision about the development next week.

If built, the new homes will be situated on the former Bayer CropScience pesticide factory site, which will have to be decontaminated before the development begins.

News regarding the development has been welcomed by local villagers, the Cambridge News reports.

Councillor Janet Lockwood told the paper: "It will double the size of the village, but this will bring a lot of advantages as we may be able to support a shop. It's also a chance for new people to come to Hauxton and contribute to the community."

In other news likely to be welcomed by those with electrician training, Steve Turner, head of communications at the Home Builders Federation, recently noted that a recent government investment to a total of 270 housing projects could be good news for the construction sector.
