Homeowners building extensions 'may need people with plumbing training'
People with plumbing training may find that they are receiving more calls from people planning to add an extension to their home.
This is because, according to the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC), now is a "really good time" to carry out structural work on a property.
The organisation explains that building costs are currently lower than they usually are and builders are providing far more competitive quotes because they are keen to take on the work.
Andrew Leech, director at the NHIC, discussed the cost of an extension, suggesting that "£22,000 is a good average, but there are some very keen prices out there if people are prepared and have got the money to spend at the present time".
This comment comes as recent figures released by Sainsbury's reveal that up to 3.27 million homeowners plan to make structural changes to their property within the next year.
The most common works planned are loft conversions, followed by side extensions and garage conversions.
