Heritage centre 'may offer work to people with renewable energy training'

Experts with renewable energy training may find that their services are required at one heritage centre which has decided to become more eco-friendly.

Timespan Museum and Arts Centre in Helmsdale has received more than £13,000 in funding to give itself an environmentally-sound makeover.

Using money from ScottishPower's Green Energy Trust, the building has installed an array of solar panels, the Northern Times reports.

Local MSP Jamie Stone unveiled the improvements earlier this week.

Alison McKean, senior environmental and social policy manager at ScottishPower, said: "The trust is delighted to be involved with such a worthwhile project.

"The Timespan Centre is a prominent feature of the local community and is setting a great example to its many visitors."

Earlier this week, the Sleaford Target reported that St Denys' Church is to have solar panels installed on the roof above its south aisle in a bid to become more environmentally-friendly.
