Great Yarmouth celebrates plumbing training courses

Great Yarmouth College has celebrated those who have taken part in plumbing training courses.

Apprentices, including full-time pupils, post-16 students and adult learners, received a range of awards for their work.

The title of Plumbing Apprentice of the Year went to Steven Loades, a student who was named Plumbing Student of the Year last year.

He was presented with a silver-plated blowlamp by Roger Willis from the Norfolk Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineers, the Yarmouth Mercury reports.

Mr Loades and his peers were among the last batch of students to be educated at Great Yarmouth College's construction centre, which is situated on Boundary Road.

From next year, plumbing training courses and other construction classes will be taught at the £7.5 million Centre for Construction and Manufacturing Technologies, which is currently being built.

Earlier this month, James Cann, founder and chief executive of Hamilton Bradshaw, told the Telegraph that people with plumbing training will likely find that they have a "job for life".
