Government funding 'may mean work for people on electrician courses'

There may be good news for those on electrician courses, as it has been claimed that government funding could provide a boost to the house building industry.

In the opinion of Simon Rubinsohn, chief economist at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics), there has been an "attempt to bring forward some of the plans".

He also noted that some banks are once again willing to lend on private finance initiative, something that had closed down for a while.

Mr Rubinsohn does appreciate that change can take time and more than just government support is needed.

"Housebuilders seem to be a little bit more cheery but its all relative, they're still not talking about mass developments again," he explained.

According to the June Glenigan Index, there has been a rise in the number of educational, health and social housing projects starting up in the UK, which has cut the year-on-year decline down to 20 per cent.
