Family with plumbing training appear on TV show

One family who made their fortune after receiving plumbing training and establishing a business appeared to a television programme last night.

Writing for the Guardian, Sam Wollaston has reviewed How the Other Half Live, a show in which a well-off family decided to sponsor another that is less fortunate than themselves.

This week's episode featured the Mullinses, who live in a luxury gated community in Beckenham, Kent.

Scott, the father, helps run the family firm Pimlico Plumbers, which is the world's largest independent plumbing firm and also featured on another reality TV show called Posh Plumbers.

Pimlico Plumbers currently receives up to 1,500 jobs a week and founder Charlie Mullins recently told the Financial Times that he used to skip school to receive plumbing training when he was a child.

"Plumbers have always had a bad name. I quickly saw what people were unhappy about and just did the opposite," he added.
