Employ people with electrical training 'for a well-finished conservatory'

It is worth investing money on a good quality conservatory and ensuring that someone with electrical training is employed to do any wiring.

This is according to Homebuilding & Renovating Magazine, which claims that if erected to a professional standard, a conservatory can add value to a property.

However, the publication warns that this is no good if the extension is not finished to a professional standard.

Although it may add space, a conservatory will contribute nothing to a home's value if it is not very good quality.

Jason Orme, editor of Homebuilding & Renovating Magazine, said: "It is often the case that a cheap bolt-on added on to a lovely country house would not add any value at all and probably would take it away."

Earlier this month, the annual Halifax Home Improvement Survey revealed that the average house extension costs around £19,922, but could add up to £25,590 to a property's value.
