Crewe residents told to 'watch out for callers with fake plumbing training'
Households in Crewe have been warned to look out for bogus callers who may claim that they have plumbing training.
This is because United Utilities is currently undertaking a project to reduce water leakage in the area as part of its £2.9 billion water quality and environmental improvement programme for 2005-2010.
The firm warns residents that it will not need to make any house calls while the work is taking place, so they should watch out for bogus plumbers.
United Utilities is replacing an old trunk main and is currently working on the King George V playing fields.
Ian Grzelak, United Utilities' project manager, said: "The main is in poor condition and has burst several times in the past - causing disruption to customers in the town."
In related news, work is still continuing in Liverpool to replace old water pipes with modern plastics ones. Around £35 million has been invested in the project.
