Construction industry recovery 'may have need for plumbing training'

There could be more demand for people with plumbing training as the home building industry is likely to improve, it has been asserted.

The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) acknowledges that there has been a decline in new builds and figures on construction orders are still low.

However, the organisation believes that the UK is coming towards the end of this decline and the sector will grow over the next few months.

Richard Diment, director general at the FMB, said the country has been "coming down the slope over the last 12 months", but it is now at the "lowest point of the 'U' and just about be starting to go up the other side".

He thinks that if policy initiatives are encouraged forward then confidence will be restored to the sector.

Earlier this week, house builder Persimmon revealed that forward sales revenue into the second half of 2009 reached £700 million, compared to £650 million at the same time last year.
