Course Outline
Course entails practical and theory based training. In centre training is Monday – Thursdays 9am – 4pm and Friday 9am – 12pm.
A work placement is recommended at a minimum of two days per week.
Course Content
Level 2 Qualifications attainable:
• C&G (6132) Certificate in Domestic Natural Gas: Installation & Maintenance
• Common basic gas processes
• Maintaining safety in natural gas
• Applying core gas safety measures
• Effective working relationships in the gas industry
• Electrical supply & earth continuity
• Installation & maintenance of central heating & hot water heating appliances
• Installation & maintenance of cookers & laundry appliances
• Install, commission, decommission, service & maintain meters
• Install, commission, decommission, service & maintain pipe work
• Install, commission, decommission, service & maintain air & water heating
• Install, commission, decommission, service & maintain space heaters
• IOSH Working Safely
Level 3 Qualifications attainable:
• Core Gas Safety (CCN1) plus a choice of up to four appliances from the following:
o Central Heating (CEN1)
o Water Heaters (WAT1)
o Gas Fires (HTR1)
o Cookers (CKR1)
o Meters (MET2)
o Combustion Performance Analysis (CPA1)
• BPEC (Level 3) Part L – Energy Efficiency
• BPEC (Level 3) Part P – Defined Scope
• BPEC (Level 3) Combi Boiler Fault Finding
• BPEC (Level 3) Essential Electrics
• Central Heating Planning and System Design
