IT’S DIRTY WORK BUT SOMEBODY’S GOT TO DO IT!
Mandy Slater has always enjoyed having a go at any DIY in her house, but hopefully there won’t be so many mistakes now that she’s passed her City and Guilds 6129 Level 2 Technical Certificate in Basic Plumbing Skills for Women. “I’ve always loved mucky work. I used to work for an electrical wholesalers and that’s where I got into it. At the moment I work in accounts for an air conditioning company and that’s where I was introduced to plumbing,” says Mandy. The course was held part-time for two evening a week at Met-UK, Rotherham, and was government funded. The ladies learnt a lot of theory and enjoyed the practical side of plumbing too in Met-UK’s purpose-built workshops. Mandy hopes to gain work experience with the air conditioning company she works for now. “I might be able to move into a different area of the company. But if not, I will enjoy plumbing at the weekends. I’m still better than my husband at all the mucky jobs in the house – and he would agree! I did learn a lot at home through trail and error, but this course has helped me a lot,” says Mandy. So hopefully the Slater household will only be experiencing quality workmanship from now on. Well done Mandy! Contact Us to find out more!
