All Good for 'All Gas' All Good for 'All Gas'

Peter Clarke

Age

41

Where from?

Premises Manager for Barnsley Council with a Masters in Business Administration (MBA).

Course

Multi-Skilled CORGI Gas Engineer Level 2

What made you decide to re-train?

I decided to retrain because despite my qualifications, my career prospects at my last job didn't match my ambition. Although I also have NVQ's in Building and Plastering, it was still quite daunting to consider doing something totally different.

Has the industry matched your expectations?

It's difficult to believe, but I have found that the reality of the industry is better than I expected. I thought that I would be on a low wage for a few years whilst I built my experience, but in fact we are rushed off our feet!

The key is to be honest to customers. Don't attempt to do things that you know you can't do, and if you need help from CORGI or a colleague, just ask...

Did you find it easy to find employment after the course?

After qualifying as a Gas Engineer from MET-UK in 2005, I decided to launch a new business."ALL GAS"specialises in most domestic Gas Servicing, Installtion and Heating Repair work and operates throughout the wider region.

Do you have any regrets about re-training?

I have no regrets about deciding to retrain with MET-UK. If you work hard you can achieve the control and job satisfaction that we all crave.
